The name UCF means United Collaborative Financing. The company’s strategy is based on the principles of collaborative consumption. Media inventory leftovers of high quality, free time of top management, undercapitalized business processes through spin-offs – are the sources of collaborative financing for new as well as mature projects. The concept of collaborative consumption was introduced by Rachel Botsman and Roo Rogers, co-authors of “What’s Mine Is Yours: The Rise of Collaborative Consumption”. In June 2010 the TV show Big Ideas demonstrated Botsman’s speech at the TED conference 2010 about a new social-economical model which should revolutionize our consumption of goods and services.
In 2010 TIME Magazine called collaborative consumption as one of the ten ideas that were going to change the world.
